Step 2: Gather Necessary Documents

Now it is time to make sure that you have the documents you will need to provide for the FAFSA. Listed below are the items you will need:

  • Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned
  • Your parents’ or guardian’s federal income tax returns if you are a dependent student
  • Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
  • Records of untaxed income (if applicable)

Step 3: Create a FSA ID

In order to apply for the FAFSA you will need a FSA ID. The ID will be used for electronic verification and to access application materials. If you are a dependent student your parent or guardian will also need to create a FSA ID. Applicants can create an FSA ID at https://fsaid.ed.gov.

Step 4: Access the FAFSA Website

Visit https://studentaid.gov and log into your account using your FAFSA ID. Please note the official name of this website. This is the only website where you should submit your FAFSA. Make sure to avoid other websites that charge fees or claim to be “FAFSA services”

Step 5: Start the FAFSA Application

      1. Click on the “Start a New FAFSA” button.

      2. Enter your FSA ID and select the academic year for which you’re applying.

      3. Follow the on-screen instructions, and choose the correct FAFSA form (usually the “20xx-20xx FAFSA” for the 20xx-20xx academic year).

Step 6: Complete the FAFSA

When filling out the FAFSA please note that the application is divided into several different sections, which will include: personal information, school selection, dependency status, financial information, and the list of schools. While completing these sections make sure to:

  • Double check all the information you enter.
  • Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool if possible to transfer your tax information directly from the IRS.
  • List all the schools you’re applying to, as your FAFSA information will be sent to them. The FAFSA code for Rosel School is 030829.

Step 7: Sign and Submit the FAFSA

After you have completed all the sections make sure to double check your application for any errors or mistakes. Ensure that all the information on your FAFSA is correct and valid, sign your FAFSA using your FSA ID. If you are a dependent, then one of your parents will also need to sign. Once the FAFSA has been signed, it is ready to be submitted. You will receive a confirmation email once it has been successfully submitted.

Step 8: Review Your Student Aid Report (SAR)

The FAFSA has a processing time of (1-3 weeks). When its ready you will receive a student aid report (SAR) via your email inbox or postal mail. Review this carefully to ensure that all the information is correct. This report contains your financial aid information and will inform you of the monetary amount that will be disbursed to you.
