One of the ways students pay for school is through the FAFSA Program. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a program provided by the Department of Education to help students pay for their education. Below is a guide to help you through the process of applying for FAFSA at Rosel School of Cosmetology so that you can navigate the financial aid process with confidence.
Step 1: Determine your Dependency Status
Before starting the FAFSA application process, it can be helpful to get an idea of your eligibility. Please click this link here to complete a quick questionnaire that will determine your status.
Step 2: Gather Necessary Documents
Now it is time to make sure that you have the documents you will need to provide for the FAFSA. Listed below are the items you will need:
- Social Security Number
- Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, and other records of money earned
- Your parents’ or guardian’s federal income tax returns if you are a dependent student
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
Step 3: Create a FSA ID
In order to apply for the FAFSA you will need a FSA ID. The ID will be used for electronic verification and to access application materials. If you are a dependent student your parent or guardian will also need to create a FSA ID. Applicants can create an FSA ID at https://fsaid.ed.gov.
Step 4: Access the FAFSA Website
Visit https://studentaid.gov and log into your account using your FAFSA ID. Please note the official name of this website. This is the only website where you should submit your FAFSA. Make sure to avoid other websites that charge fees or claim to be “FAFSA services”
Step 5: Start the FAFSA Application
1. Click on the “Start a New FAFSA” button.
2. Enter your FSA ID and select the academic year for which you’re applying.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions, and choose the correct FAFSA form (usually the “20xx-20xx FAFSA” for the 20xx-20xx academic year).
Step 6: Complete the FAFSA
When filling out the FAFSA please note that the application is divided into several different sections, which will include: personal information, school selection, dependency status, financial information, and the list of schools. While completing these sections make sure to:
- Double check all the information you enter.
- Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool if possible to transfer your tax information directly from the IRS.
- List all the schools you’re applying to, as your FAFSA information will be sent to them. The FAFSA code for Rosel School is 030829.
